Synactive Launches GuiXT Access
New Offering Enables Mobile Access to SAP® Applications —No Upgrades or Platform Switches
ORLANDO, Fla. -- May 17, 2010 - Synactive, Inc. (www.guixt.com), a leading developer of optimization and user-enablement solutions for use with SAP® solutions today announced the general availability of GuiXT Access. GuiXT Access enables companies running the SAP ERP application to connect their users to their implementations of SAP solutions throughout every touch point, from the Web and desktop to the ubiquitous smart phone.
Companies already leveraging SAP solutions across every industry and business function around the world can extend their connectivity securely to their mobile workforce—aligning specific business transactions with roles and responsibilities—via a customized user interface. For example, waiting to get back to the office to approve a purchase requisition is a thing of the past; now, before boarding the plane, approval can be given using an iPhone, allowing productivity to continue.
"More specifically, a company can extend its sales-order creation with variant configuration to the field, as well as extend its supply chain visibility to suppliers," said Thomas Ewe, Synactive's CEO. "These modes of access are built on proven existing SAP transactions, specifically for a business process to a specific audience—but limited and customized by GuiXT. These are then accessible through the Web and mobile devices."
Connectivity via mobile devices such as iPhone and BlackBerry is accomplished through applications that integrate the device and SAP applications. "Through this integration, users can click on a customer phone number and have the phone dial, or they can click on a customer address to bring up the interactive map, ready for routing," added Ewe.
GuiXT Access' capabilities are delivered through 64-bit servers using Synactive’s new WS-64 Foundation Engine (patent-pending). Based on industry standard ECMAScript 262, WS-64 is a fully multi-threaded customization engine that allows for infinite extensions. Integration between WS-64 and SAP ERP is enabled through channels of connectivity to SAP solutions, including Web services, the BAPI® programming interface, remote function calls (RFCs), and SAP protocols, as well as direct database access if necessary. A software development kit (SDK) to develop extensions is available at www.guixt.com.
"The point is that, while software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions are suitable for some companies, we recognize that typical users of SAP solutions prefer to keep private control of their own vital data and crucial information, being accountable for their access to them," said Ewe. "By enabling GuiXT Access, organizations no longer have to be dependent on SaaS providers to leverage the cloud; but, more important, they can start connecting their users, today, to any version of SAP ERP, without requiring upgrades or platform switching."
GuiXT Access is scheduled to be available as a native application on the iPhone, BlackBerry, and the new iPad devices in June. Native support for Android and Windows Phone 7 is scheduled to launch by the third quarter of 2010.
